Whilst the 1950s may have been the era when the popularity of wearing jeans exploded, the material that they are made of, denim, has been around for centuries before. Large hips, stomach or thighs will not be helped by skinny jeans and they will make them look a lot bigger than they actually are.

Flared. The modern version of the popular 1970s bell bottom jeans, flares are, for the most part, a more reigned in version of their elder relative. Rather than being skinny at the top then widening massively below the knee, flared jeans have a loose but straight feel all the way down the leg, generally only beginning to flare just above the ankle.

A lot of women tend to go for flared jeans, as they believe that they will make them look slimmer (unlike flared jeans, which required a super skinny waist with legs to match) but in fact, they are not suited to all body shapes.

Prime examples are women who are short or petite, as flared jeans can make the legs look a lot shorter and wider than they are, making this cut definitely not a suitable women's clothing option for smaller females.

Diary of a Tall Fashionista - Tall Designer Jeans - What's All the Fuss?

A couple of years ago, a friend introduced me to tall designer jeans. I was just getting used to the fact that I could find long inseam jeans in the first place and hadn't even begun to think about premium denim. While I am a total shopaholic, I pride myself on being frugal. I rarely pay full price for anything (to me it's not a sale until it's 75% off of the clearance price)! Needless to say I wasn't pumped about dropping $200 on ONE pair of jeans. I don't care if it is the same brand that graze Jennifer Anniston's backside or if the inseam is actually long enough for my six foot frame to wear with three inch heels! But then a wonderful thing happened. My husband (oh sweet man that he is) bought me a pair of 37 inch inseam true religion jeans. All of the 'are they really worth it?' questions fell to the bottom of the closet floor along with my "regular" jeans.

FIT, QUALITY, BRAND APPEAL

There are a few attributes that set tall designer jeans apart from everyday brands. The first is fit. One of the priceless things about designer denim is that they run longer than regular department store brands. Many of the hottest brands make their popular styles for tall women- in inseams up to 37 inches. Tall fashionistas have never been happier! We have our choice from J. Brand, Rock and Republic, James Jeans, True Religion, Victoria Beckham, Citizen of Humanity...the list goes on! Can you believe that? The list never goes on for tall women! Lee Jeans - A History of Lee 101

Lee 101 is a high-end denim brand from the United States of America. Lee (full name Lee Mercantile Company) was founded in 1889 in a town called Salina, found in Kansas. The first Lee denim created was workwear - dungarees and shirts, which was typical of the time.

1913 saw the arrival of the Union-All Work Jumpsuit, a major step forward in work clothing technology and the first in a stream of innovations that Lee was to be responsible for bringing to the world.

In 1920, Lee introduced two very important parts of what is now its heritage. First, there was the Lee Buddy Doll. Secondly, there was the World's first work Overall. The Lee Buddy Doll was intended to be a promotional gimmick, but was embraced as a very popular play toy. Eventually, the Lee Buddy Doll would go on to become the second most sold doll in America of its time.

Throughout the 20s, Lee worked on making its denim products more innovative and useful to their customers. They were still very firmly a workwear company and so worked to increase the strength and versatility of their jeans and overalls. They were also the first to incorporate a zip fly onto their jeans. The modern zip had only been around for about 10 years at this time, and was not to find commercial success for many decades yet.

In the 30s and 40s, Lee became the USA's largest work wear brand overtaking its competitors due to its superior product and focus on delivering what the large manufacturing workers demanded from their clothing.

The 1950s saw the world's taste in casual clothing and fashion change and move away from the traditional evening dress. Lee felt that there was space in the casual clothing market for denim and launched its first collections there. While take up was initially quite slow, it soon picked up as people began donning denim as their primary choice for their casual clothing.

Seeing the success of both their traditional work clothing and their successful new entrance in to casual clothing, the company decided to take Lee Jeans worldwide to many different countries. Mens Lee Jeans UK appeared through a chain of independent distributors, and both their durable work gear as well as the newer, more casual Lee clothing. By the end of the 1960s, Lee had a presence in over 50 countries.

The following years saw the Lee 101 brand expand with a larger focus on fashion and informal clothing. Lee mens jeans became the primary focus of the brand, although they continually accelerated development in other areas, such as their Lee Shirts. Lee checked Shirts are currently very popular with the past few and current seasons.

In 1996, Lee launched their National Denim Day - an American nationwide-event where participants would wear denim to work and give $5. This $5 would then be given towards helping Breast Cancer research and prevention efforts.

Throughout their life, Lee has also added women's styles to many of their men's jean ranges. These have come under a variety of names, such as Ms. Lee and Lady Lee. The most popular was the women's counterpart to the men's Lee Riders jeans, one of the earlier of Lee 101's forays into casual clothing.

In addition, he has released five full-length LPs over the span of his twelve year career. Although none of his solo releases have achieved significant commercial success, Owens has garnered a following amongst devoted hip hop fans, partially due to the rise in popularity of Bay Area hip hop. 1994's Fear Itself is of significance to Owens' career. It is his only major label-marketed album and features various members of his crew, Hieroglyphics, on vocals and production. The album also features a prominent cameo from Bay Area rapper Saafir. The album follows a traditional format: its songs adhere to a verse-chorus-verse arrangement, and the up-tempo and slower tracks are contrasted against each other. I'm an extra large in the states..that makes it hard to buy stuff off the rack in Japan so check this out !!! Now no disrespect meant to Japan but clothes can cost you a lot here especially when you are new in town and you don't know where the bargains are. Regardless they tend to be more expensive than back in the states. I was spoiled going to K mart or Target and grabbing a bag of clothes for a hundred bucks. I have seen the exact item here in Japan for 3 times the cost back home. Shoes for a size twelve guy are rare. That's a 30 cm here and I am wide that's a 4e or 30cm EEEE. Most places stop at 27 to 28cm shoe size and only working mans stores go up to 29. Shoes run in different sizes ranging from US sizes to European and then metric. Clothing also has strange variances in actual size a 3L is more like a XL in the states never mind a XXL or XXXL that's more like a 4 to 6L here. Pants are cut different and usually run two sizes smaller... us guys back home are fat asses. Stores like this cater to the larger man weather you are a big buff dude or a blob. The prices were reasonable for Japan and sometimes they even have a great two for one deal. But its always a bit more so your gonna have to deal with it. If you are moving here and you are bigger than a large better stock up a fill a suit case to hold you over and save some cash in the beginning.
