Boyfriend Jeans and Men's Neckties - Style Improvisation For the Younger Crowd

Fashion is what everyone wears. Style is what an individual chooses to wear. Currently, young women are being attracted by a new style in jeans. It is called the boyfriend jean.

Katie Holmes, Reece Witherspoon and Sarah Jessica Parker all were wearing boyfriend's jeans in the summer of 2008. Now, one can buy jeans in the young woman's section of department stores described as boyfriend jeans. Ads promoting these jeans describe them as comfortable for every body type. Young women seem to be attracted to the whole concept of wearing male clothing because-to quote one young woman, "it's hot." When the trend began, it was limited to just jeans. The jeans were big meaning they needed to be cinched at the waist and the pant leg needed to be rolled up. But fashion writers for the spring of 2009 predict that young women will be wearing big everything-big shirts and big jewelry.

What big accessories besides jewelry works perfectly with boyfriend jeans? Men's neckties.

Borrowing yet another item found in men's closets, the necktie is a perfect accompaniment for this boyfriend style. There are many ways that men's neckties could be added to a boyfriend outfit that enables a young woman to illustrate her own style in the current fashion trend.

Young fashion conscious women can definitely use a men's necktie for casual purposes. For starters, they can repurpose skinny ties or extra long ties as belts. There are many patterns to choose from, including of course, solids for a very clean finished look.

Young women enamored with the boyfriend look might find men's neck ties from the 1940s a perfect choice. Neckties from this era were bold and colorful.  Since these ties from the 1940s were shorter than ties today, this solves one of the problems young women discover when shopping for men's ties.  Men's neckwear is often too long for them.  Choosing to wear a modern tie also limits the style and design choices, whereas opting for a vintage tie from a different era opens up a lot of possibilities.

Who are some necktie brand names from the 1940's that young style conscious women might want to turn to?   Four reliable choices from the time are Haband, Wembley, Arrow, and Van Heusen. These are four names long respected in the world of men's designer neckties.

But don't forget the possibilities in the novelty tie department. Novelty ties reflect many themes. A young woman tie wearer might be able to announce her individual personality by choosing a novelty necktie reflecting her interest. She will find categories such as animals, music and cartoons,  to name a few.

Finally, women may wish to consider adding a men's designer necktie to add their own style to the boyfriend fashion trend. Designer ties in general are better made and will last longer if cared for properly.   Whether young women go for new or vintage ties, skinny or long ties, novelty or designer ties, there is something out there for everyone with which to pair their boyfriend jeans for a fun and stylish look.
